Compassionate Touch Massage in Senior Living Communities
Does your senior loved one experience anxiety?. . . aches and pains? . . . struggle with sleeping? . . . or simply enjoy the comfort of a massage?
Compassionate Touch Massage is a safe, gentle non-pharmaceutical approach designed to ease physical and emotional distress. Studies show that soothing touch can release oxytocin which is associated with a peaceful and positive state of mind, and to increase of dopamine and serotonin, neurotransmitters that help relieve stress and anxiety. Compassionate Touch Massage also increases circulation, improves immune function and sleep while moisturizing the skin. Seniors are now requesting massage more than ever!.
How am I different from other massage therapist?
I am certified in Compassionate Touch Massage and understand the unique needs of seniors. I possess years of experience working with all levels of care, these range from those who are active in independent living and assisted living to those in memory care, to those who are at the end stage of their lives. I treat them all with compassion and respect, applying just the right amount of pressure for their bodies and skin. Massage tables and massage chairs can be risky and uncomfortable for many in this population, so I meet each individual where they are, whether in a bed, a wheelchair or in a chair. I customize my sessions and know the proper length of time to avoid overstimulating them. My clients still receive the benefits of massage, even though they remain clothed. Unscented, natural lotion is massaged into their hands and feet. I travel to homes and senior living communities in New Haven and Fairfield County.
